Compliance Requirements (Title 22, Section 87208 – Plan of Operation):

  • As of January 1, 2025, dementia care regulations require all RCFEs to include specific dementia care provisions in their Plan of Operation.

  • Licensees must have and maintain a current, written plan of operation and operate in accordance with it.

  • Significant changes to services must be submitted to the Department for approval.

  • Failure to comply may result in citations during licensing reviews.

⚠️ Important: This is not a stand-alone dementia program. It is an addendum to your Plan of Operation for licensing and stakeholder review. It is the licensee’s responsibility to develop and deliver the dementia program at the facility.
